About Us
The Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority is your public transportation
doorway to the Mon Valley. Not only will we take you almost
anywhere in the Mon Valley; we also provide direct service to
Pittsburgh. We are one of the most productive small transit
systems in Pennsylvania.
In 1985 the Authority was organized as a municipal authority and
is supported by the generous assistance of Westmoreland and
Washington Counties, the Federal Transit Administration, the PADOT
Bureau of Public Transportation, and 21 Mon Valley communities (Allenport,
Belle Vernon, California, Carroll Twp., Charleroi, Coal Center,
Donora, Dunlevy, Elco, Fallowfield Twp., Fayette City, Monessen,
Monongahela, New Eagle, North Belle Vernon, North Charleroi,
Roscoe, Rostraver Twp., Speers, Stockdale, and Washington Twp).
Each of these 21 local communities has placed a representative on
the Authority's Board of Directors and they meet monthly at the
Authority offices.
Recently, MMVTA started a student transportation program with
California University of Pennsylvania.
The Authority's offices are monitored by the Board of Directors
and administered by the staff which consists of an Executive
Director, Assistant Director, Financial Manager, Public Relations
Specialist, and Office Manager. Our staff is available Monday
through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Our offices are
located at 1300 McKean Avenue in Charleroi. Please feel free to
stop by for schedules and information. |
