1. Why aren’t all the bus stop departure times listed on the schedule?
Most of the route schedules list the main stop(s) in the community to provide streamlined, rider-friendly publications to riders.
2. Can I bring a baby stroller on the bus?
Strollers must be folded up and ready when bus arrives. No strollers will be permitted on the vehicle lifts at any time. Drivers are not permitted to assist passengers with handling strollers.
3. Does MMVTA buses have an animal policy?
Yes, if your pet is in an appropriate, secure carrying case or if your pet is a service animal for a disability, such as a seeing-eye dog. Please note, your pet must ride in an approved pet carrier that fits on the owner’s lap. This does not include any bags or cardboard boxes.
4. What are the Transit Center’s office hours?
Monday – Friday: 8:30AM to 4:30PM

How can I pay my fare when boarding the bus?
You can use cash or coins to pay the exact fare amount (our fareboxes don’t issue change).
I don’t want to pay each time I board the bus, but I know I will be on vacation for two weeks, and I don’t want to lose value on a Monthly FLASH Pass. What should I do?
You can purchase the 10 Trip Ticket Book. It saves you money and does not expire. You can purchase your 10 Trip Ticket Books several ways. See the Ways to Purchase Section.
I have a Reduced Fare or a Medicare Card, can I purchase a Monthly FLASH Pass or 10 Trip Ticket Book?
Absolutely! You can purchase both types of multi-ride media. When purchasing either one, you will receive half off the total amount of the regular fare.
How do I use my Reduced Fare or Medicare Card to purchase passes or tickets?
Reduced Fare Riders and Full Fare Rides purchase passes or tickets the exact same way. See the Ways to Purchase Section.
I am 65. How much do I pay?
You pay absolutely nothing. Persons 65 or older automatically qualify for free transportation on any MMVTA bus. All you have to do is fill out a short application, show proof of age and receive a Free Transit Card. For more information CLICK HERE or call the MMVTA at 724-489-0880.
All Students and Cal U
I am currently a Cal U student. Do I now have to pay to ride the bus?
No. Due to a partnership agreement with California University of Pennsylvania, all Cal U students ride MMVTA routes at no charge when presenting the drivers with a valid student CalCard.
I am currently a Cal U Faculty/Staff Member. Do I now have to pay to ride the bus?
No. Due to a partnership agreement with California University of Pennsylvania, all Cal U Faculty & Staff ride MMVTA routes at no charge when presenting the drivers with a valid CalCard.
I am not a Cal U student, but I attend the Western School in Downtown Pittsburgh is there any discount available?
Yes. All college, high school, or career school students are eligible for reduced fare on all MMVTA buses. To receive exactly half off of all multi ride media and one way fare, a student must register with the MMVTA and obtain a Student Reduced Fare Card.
